I am surprised by how far LEGO went to recreate the specific details of the original design while keeping within the limitations of their own rules.
I was not surprised to see that Grevious's Legs were replaced on the dino as I would image there is some kind of licensing issue in using them but I love the alternative that was used.
I would have liked to have seen more custom printed figured rather than just the one, but I understand that that will keep the price at a more accessible level.

Making something go viral: showing loved things in a new way
Ok, so I am a fan of Star Wars, and a Fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, this makes me crazy giddy about both. And it also shows what music and clips can do to really alter the vibe of a story.
I am sharing this because it is awesome, but also, to show that if you have an idea for something, even one that is decades old, and you want people to share it, try expressing it in a new way.
Also I am sharing it just because it is damn awesome.

Lego Light Sabers reaches 10,000 Supporters
This pair of sabers has had a respectable journey to 10k.
These sabers reflect the proud tradition of FOLs using LEGO to recreate, in life size detail, their favorite Sci-Fi and Fantasy props and are the first project in this vein to reach 10,000.
This is, in my opinion, the best shot to date for a Star Wars Ideas/Cuusoo project to become an actual product as it diverges greatly from LEGO's application of the liscense to date.

Female Minifigure Set to be produced
The Female Minifigure Set has been selected for the next LEGO Ideas set.
The set is intended for release in August.
All other projects in the review have been rejected. Zelda for the third time!
The video of the results can be found here.
Here are a few observations about this project and what it has accomplished in getting selected for production:

What does this mean?
Like each set that gets picked for production, there are little tid-bits and factoids that can be pulled out from this and observed. Here are a few observations about this project and what it has accomplished in getting selected for production:
- The second set (of eight) to be produced without IP
- The least expensive set to date ($20.00)
- The first set to be produced that got a pass in a previous review
- The first set to be produced that could, pretty seamlessly, fit into the CITY theme
- The first set to be produced that used fully rendered models, with no actual Lego model
- The first set to be produced that has proposed a collection of small models
- The first set to be produced that proposed a multitude of possible options, then used supporter feedback to narrow the final selection.
- The first set to be produced that could be argued to have a social agenda (other than charity)
