New Cuusoo Tutorial: Background with LDD
There are so many projects on Cuusoo with nonsensical desert or ocean backgrounds. This tutorial is an attempt to counteract that trend.Cuusoo Advice: Simple Background Editing explains simple ways to get a blank background on your LDD images or even put in a well chosen photograph or image using only MS-paint.
Approaching 1k Milestone
No project crossed the 1k mark this week but the lineup has had some changes. Lego Store has taken the "Lead" and Hardsuits bolted ahead of Sea Killer and the Rhino. The Sea Killer has unfortunately stagnated, only receiving 2 support in the last week.Deadline Review
The next review is December 3rd, 2012...that is 46 days from today. Any project that does not make it to the December 3rd deadline will have to wait another 3 months to even get started.Don't like how slow a project is going?
Give it some indirect support to help speed things up. This link has plenty of examples how.Second Look
Star Control II 20th Anniversary Armadaby Glenbricker and Crashsanders
November will mark the 20 year anniversary of the release of Star Control II. A great game that combines an epic quest with arcade action. I and many of my compatriots have spent countless hours seeking out resources and allies in the immense expanse of stars or matching skills against our friends in feverish space combat.
More than a decade after its release the game has continued to accrue accolades still appearing on many "best game" lists, and now exists with new life having found itself ported to an open source version rechristened "Ur-Quan Masters" (Accolade still owns the name "Star Control"). I seriously recommend that you try it out if you have some time to kill. For those of you with no context at all, Star Control was the brain child of the geniuses behind the Skylanders franchise.
I have had this project since my first days on Cuusoo but I have finally sat down and really started working on it. Then Crashsanders came a long and this project has really livened up. The goal is to recreate the 24 ships of the game and the 20+ species using Lego. The challenge is to accurately recreate them in a small enough scale that they could be one set. All the ships are so unique in aesthetic and game play that I didn't want to leave out anyone's favorite.
Days to 10K
Not on the List? First, I tend to cut of projects after a certain day count, usually 10k. Additionally, I only monitor projects that have at least 200. Projects less than that are a little too volatile for proper assessment. Finally, I track several weeks worth of data to get these numbers, so you might not show up until your project has been post 200 for a few weeks.
