The Majestic Airship
The Majestic Airship by Ssorg has soared though the ranks the last week and is very much in the running of the #1 spot on the leader board this Sunday. It has certainly brought in a lot of new Cuusoo users. Some evidence seems to indicate that many of them are steampunk fans.
Many of Ssorgs other projects got some tangential support and many of the new people joining Cuusoo seemed to be voting for Peterreid's Exo Suit.
History Projects
This week Cuusoo is paying special attention to History themed project. Ancient World Civilizations certainly got a boost from this and has a strong chance of showing up on the leader boards. Historical Periods also got a posting but did not get the follow-though of support that Ancient World Civilizations enjoyed.Space Race
As expected, Architecture : Space Shuttle crawler transporter has been slowing down. It has been three weeks so I am posting the results in the chart below but the project rocketed up so fast that my model is still probably way off. Basically what is happening is all the low hanging fruit has been reached and they have supported. Word of mouth is slowing down. A lot of people decry that only celebrity can get a project to 10k...well certainly and they need to stop complaining about it and just join in.
If you like a project then post it to your social sites then don't just vote for it, post it to your social network, vote it up on Reddit, and tweet someone about it. Most people don't have a lot of twitter followers, but that does not matter if you can find someone who does that might retweet the project to their followers.
For example: Astronaut Mike Massimino has over a million followers (2.5 Wheatons actually). Each person that tweets to him a message like:
@Astro_Mike Please help spread the word on the Lego Shuttle Crawler. With 10000 votes it could get produced. http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/31567
increases the chances that he will retweet such a message to his followers.
Approaching 1k Milestone
The Rhinoceros by Theo Jansen finally crossed the 1k mark. I really wish this one would not crawl so slowly. The Majestic Airship however just soared right by the 1k mark and I never got a chance to report on it in this segment. The LEGO Pokémon rounded out the projects crossing 1k with an added effect of closing the voting on Pokemon #5. The result was Rayquaza and now a new round of voting has started for the 6th and final Pokemon in the set.Even the Medieval Market Street almost made it. We were two support shy of going through the whole top three.
Deadline Review
The next review is March 3rd, 2012. That is 73 days from today. The Exo Suit is keeping a good pace. Although I will wait one more week before posting my "official" numbers on the Shuttle Crawler, as predicted it is slowing down considerably and its current rate would put it outside the 80 day deadline.Do you want to speed a project up?
As Purdue proved, projects can get to 10k much faster than what is shown here. Projects need active fans to accelerate or even keep pace. This link has many examples of how fans can help out their favorite projects.Days to 10K
Not on the List? First, I tend to cut off projects after a certain day count, usually 10k. Additionally, I only monitor projects that have at least 200. Projects less than that are a little too volatile for proper assessment. Finally, I track several weeks worth of data to get these numbers, so you might not show up until your project has been post 200 for a few weeks.
