No "Space Marines" technically
So everybody who said that "Space Marines" was a trademarked term, congratulations, here is your no-prize (hm...I wonder if no-prize is a trademarked term as well?). The former Marines of Space project has been taken down temporarily until Cuusoo and Nick Royer can work together to come up with a different term for the Marines of Space.
Pick of the Week
Architecture : Space Shuttle crawler transporterby Teazza
Support Level: 680
This set has one of the best opening weeks in Cuusoo history and is totally deserving of it. The moc portrays a subject of grand scope but does so at an accessible scale while still respecting the complexity. It is a fantastic counterpoise to their own large scale Shuttle Launch Complex which, though beautiful and extremely accurate, is the kind of set you like to see at a con rather than dominating your living room.
The efficiency of presentation is also a treat on this set as the creativity does not stop at the crawler and brilliantly simple shuttle but extends to a spectacular base. The base uses one of my favorite techniques of alternating horizontal and vertical bricks to create lines. The concept is extended to fabulously include tread marks.
This set is a true Cuusoo star.

Jaystepher certainly has an identifiable style on his Cuusoo projects, presenting relatively realistic architectural content within an otherwise minifig scaled structure. The style is consistent enough that I don't really have anything to say about it that I did not say about his offering last week.
Week of Cuusoo
I put the cutoff at 4 support this week (so no project with less than 4 support is being displayed here). Architecture : Space Shuttle crawler transporter

I have a penchants for picking up a local treat when I travel. Say what you will, but in addition to the culture and history one of the things I love about traveling out of the country is getting Kinder Eggs. For those who have not had one (and don't want to click on the link), Kinder Eggs are tasty chocolate shells with a really cool toy inside. I don't mean a cracker jack toy, I mean a REAL toy, something a Lego fan could really respect.
So, although the cost of a Minifig Kinder Egg would likely be prohibitive and they would never be allowed in the US (again, see the link) I would love to have one of these. That being said, I don't think this project has a shot of getting past 1k, not due to the any US embargo but due to the fact that this is a case of packaging rather than unique design. But Cuusoo is in Beta so, who knows?
I think this project does showcase one of the things I think is awesome about Cuusoo. They are very open about what you can post and allow the supporters to choose what they should pay attention to (by getting to 1k). I know many do not agree with this view, but I am a firm believer that cream rises.
