CotD: Hot Rods, Wet Droids, and Launching Bridges

Pick of the Day

1:8 Scale Classic American Hot Rod
by Drdesignz

Drdesignz has truly given us a gift with this work of art.  I don't have any reason to explain why this was my pick for the day. The MOC exudes detail and mechanical genius.

Here is an excerpt of the technical details:

"The gear shifter has three positions, center being neutral. Forward opens the passenger door and pulling it back opens the driver's side door. Another Lego Power Function includes a second electric motor in the trunk, which turns an actuator that adjusts the rear suspension height. The battery box is also located in the rear, which is easily removed by opening the trunk (see flickr album). Another function includes the steering wheel, which does turn the front wheels."

All that and a minifig skull for the gear shift too!

The very impressive video is here.  If the above picture and the video don't convince you to support this, well, using words to explain why you should would be pointless.

Cotd: Swiss Chalet and Safari Truck and Dragon Slayers

Pick of the Day

Swiss Chalet #1
by Arlen.mcc

Arlen has uploaded an entire village of quality minibuild structures.  This one is my favorite with the Bavarian Castle being a close second.

The complex geometries of the roof really call out to me.  The Blue, white and black with yellow highlights make for a great color scheme too.

Honorable Mention

Safari Truck
by Dr.runright

This Safari Truck has an abundance of great qualities.  An antenna, tow thing (can't recall the name of it all of a sudden), hooks, high venting, even a spare tire.  The canvas overlap really brings it all together.

I really like the above the roof storage but I can't figure how Lego would pull that off.

Second Look

Swiss Chalet #1
by lizardman

Lizardman has been working on this series of brick build dragons for quite a while and I think this is one of the best ones he has put on Cuusoo.
The posability is great, the wings have a really unique style and technique.  The overlapping plates on the head is very clever.  Altogether a fantastic build.

CotD: Big Tent, Big Bus, and Big Temple

Pick of the Day

The Big-Top Circus Tent comes to town!
by Jwnm69

Jmnm69 did the very difficult thing of posting a subject that is poorly represented in Cuusoo.  Beyond that this MOC is very well developed.  The use of Pirate sales for the tent works out great.

I am not sure about the marketability of the set, especially at the presented scale but it is a great work that really sells the circus concept as a viable build otherwise.

Honorable Mention #1

Articulated Bus - VERSUS
by Designbrick

This is a well executed technical achievement and I am sure it must look great rolling around.  I certainly wish there was video to go with it.

In the end though, its a bit too big for my tastes as a set owner.  This would take up a lot of real estate on my shelf.

Honorable Mention #2

The Jedi Temple
by Adho15

Although this is the fifth project to call itself a "Jedi Temple" this one manages to make its mark by going for style over playability.  I really like the core concept, an architecture line for fictional locations.  True, there are certainly more non-fictional structures worthy or recognition than Lego will ever be able to produce, but it is still a great concept for those who, like many of us, identify better with fictional places than real ones.

To be certain, this is not the first to represent this concept, there are a few non-playable Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter projects that spring to mind.
